Fun Field Festival is back for its second year, bringing people together for live music, camping, arts, games, artisan vendors, local food trucks, and more! More than just music, it's a chance to start the summer where sunshine and great company await. It’s an invitation to embrace the season, celebrate community, and make memories that last long after the sun sets—a place where families, friends old and new, and endless fun come together.

Friday Night Battle of the Jam Bands

This year, Fun Field Festival will feature a whole extra night of music! The Jam format is where so many musicians meet,  band connections are made and music magic happens. Wardner is right in between Cranbrook, Jaffray, Fernie & Sparwood so the organisers have invited the best local musicians to combine their musical forces and come for one epic Friday night Jam session.

Hosted by the Dukes of Pectin, this years lineup will feature:

    • Long time jammers Scott Deydey and Zac Barrett from Fernie. These musicians have been part of many Fernie bands including currently being menbers of Lord Knows Band. Zac has been Jam Night host at venues like The Royal & The Brickhouse.
    • Local music legend Ferdy Belland will head up the The Cranbrook Jammers. Having his fingers in many musical jam jars this accomplished musician will be leading some of Cranbrook's finest to Jam their way through Friday night.
    • Rumour has it that some members of legendary local Sparwood band - The Banned - will be corralling a group of Sparwood and Elkford musicians to represent the upper Elk Valley in this years Battle of the Jam Bands.
    • CMNDR XNDR & Co from the Jaffray Community Jam are looking to bring some of the amazing local talent along and represent the home turf.

Sunday Wellness & Rejuvenation Day

Sunday is all about wellness and rejuvenation. There will be yoga, reiki, sound healing offerings and more from local practitioners. There will be some light music from local DJs to leave you uplifted as you get ready to pack up camp and head back with your cup full. FFF entertainment and activities will end at 2pm on Sunday. Activities will include:

LIVE MUSIC

  • Kytami & Phonic Ops
    • There are few acts on the west coast combining live instrumentation, high energy  and gritty bass with the ferocity and craft than violinist Kytami and DJ/Producer Phonik Ops. They have made it their mission to create a truly unique sound that  would be instantly recognizable as their own all the while drawing on their shared love of Drum n Bass, Hip Hop, Punk and bass heavy dance music. Since connecting at a festival in British Columbia, they have become one of the most intriguing acts, standing out in an already saturated musical landscape. This power duo has produced exclusive guest mixes for the DnB Show on BBC Radio 1 and BeatLab Radio and continuously build up their fan base with spectacular live shows and an ever-increasing catalogue of impactful music.
  • Peter & The Wolves
    • "Big-haired, large-'burned, leather-clad, baby-faced frontman Peter "Howlin' Pete" Cormier and the rest of his fresh, stylish, rockabilly crew are setting the rockabilly scene on fire and hearts all a-flutter." Peter started this band in 2011 with rhythm at the roots, and the purpose of creating a hoppin' dance floor at every show. He writes his songs in the style of the great rock n' rollers from the 1950s like Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. Over the years, it has grown into a powerful touring act, traveling from Canada to the USA, England and Italy with a rotating line-up, featuring core members Howlin' Pete on the piano and guitar, and Meg Thompson on the saxophone. Sing along with Peter & the Wolves and dance like nothing can stop you.
  • Half Spent
    • Consisting of members Dawson Rutledge (vocals, guitar), Dallas Moore (guitar), Julian Bueckert (drums), and Angus Liedtke (bass, synth) Half Spent has been sonically bombarding other humans since 2017. With a Y2K influence and dash of psych-pop, Half Spent sends you down a river of velvet melodies to assaulting fuzz that's all contained in a towering fortress of sound. The band’s love for that 90s steez and early ‘00s super rock sound comes from influences such as Title Fight, The Districts and Oasis. From Arizona to New York, the band has had the pleasure to entertain folks all around North America but gladly call the East Kootenays home.
  • Tailgator
    • Tailgator is the alternative folk duo comprised of Logan Plessis and Linden Gigliotti. They form their sound from influences such as Bahamas, Billy Strings and Deer Tick. Tailgator’s music has elements of feel good folk songs but with a modern country flavour. Their first single “Cold Sunshine” will be released independently on all streaming platforms June 14, 2024 and will be playing shows around BC and Alberta throughout the summer. This single is the first of many more Tailgator songs to come…
  • Phaeton
    • PHAETON was formed in 2017 by drummer Colin Righton, guitarist Daniel Airth, guitarist-keyboardist Kevin Thiessen, and bassist Ferdy Belland. Taking inspiration from groundbreaking artists such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Rush, Mastodon, Devin Townsend, Opeth, Animals as Leaders, and Haken, this unique all-instrumental band of thoughtful virtuosi combines the best elements of Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal into an enjoyably one-of-a-kind experiences that blends crushing grooves and driving tempos with smartly-crafted song arrangements and spiraling melodic overload. There's no bummer-downer here, only uplifting excitement and unforgettable memories. Try Phaeton live and see.
  • Kitty & The Rooster
    • Kitty & The Rooster is a surf rock n’ roll duo from Vancouver featuring Jodie Ponto on the stand-up cocktail drumkit and Noah Walker on electric guitar. They are known for their big sound, laugh out loud lyrics, and ridiculously fun shows. Kitty & The Rooster has toured all across Canada, played a cluck-ton of festivals including Vancouver Folk Fest, opened for Shannon & The Clams, and released two albums called One Gig Hard Drive and Ain’t Pussyfootin’ Around. Third album coming in 2025.
  • Charles Benjamin Band
    • Acoustic-grassy, with a dash of old country and a side of old-time music throughout their set of original, traditional and cover tunes. This Kootenay-based band is Clayton Parsons, Michael Hepher, Leah Gardiner and Ronda Shippy with their banjos, guitars, dobro, mandolins, fiddle and upright bass.
  • The Hip Flexers
    • This high energy six piece group are Fernie’s premier special events band, and are guaranteed to keep you on the dance floor. Rachel Behan and Sadie Rosgen on front line vocals love to interact with their crowd and really know how to get a party started. Barbara Bassett plays saxophone, flute, trumpet, keys, acoustic guitar, what doesn’t this chick play!?! Ric Behan slappin’ da bass, Matt Lewis tappin’ ze drums, and Dan Gordon shreddin’ on lead guitar.
  • Called Out
    • Called Out is a high-energy Punk band from Fernie, BC, known for their tight rhythms, raw intensity, and powerful vocals. Blending classic punk attitude with sharp musicianship, Called Out brings a relentless energy that keeps the crowd moving. Born from the heart of the Rockies, they are carving their own path in the punk scene - loud, fast and unapologetic.
  • Bohemian Misfits
    • Bohemian Misfits is a performance company created to bring art to the streets, to interact and captivate audiences. With their giant elephant puppet they recreate an old fashioned circus entrance to town, with circus characters taken from the early 1900's, and the mischievous 16 feet elephant. The Bohemian Misfits and Ed the elephant will open the Saturday festivities at noon with a parade through the festival ending at the main stage to introduce the first musician and start the day of music!
  • The Banned
    • The Banned, formed in 2019, is a 5 piece rock band with members from the Elk Valley playing a variety of music from Country Rock to Hard Rock, the Eagles to Metallica and everything in between. They enjoy playing to people who like to party and dance. Members are: Josh Scholpp, lead guitar and vocals. Dan Turner, drums. John Ashbridge, bass and vocals. Roger Fairhurst, guitar, keyboard, mandolin and vocals and their newest member Carrie Will lead vocals.
  • La Severa Matecera
    • All the way from Colombia - this musical group and performance band draws on its love of many genres and creates a mix of ska, reggae and funk. Get your dancing shows ready because this is going to be a set full of energy and fun!
  • Mariya Stokes
    • Mariya Stokes is a country-Americana artist known for her quick wit, candid storytelling, and unapologetically stealing your Grandma’s clothes. With a voice as distinct as her retro style, Country Music Alberta’s two-time Female Artist of the Year is set to release her debut full-length album, Mood Ring, on May 23, 2025.? The album’s anthemic choruses, gritty storytelling, and snappy basslines trace a sound that doesn’t settle neatly into one box. But neither does Stokes.

  • Dingo Starr
    • Bringing cosmic energy to the Kootenays for two decades, DingoStarr is a staple in Fernie’s electronic music scene and culture. An essential pioneer in the Fernie rave scene, Dingo has played basshouse, organic ethno house and psytech, but is mostly known for his Psytrance style. 
  • DJ Sasquatch
    • Representing INSURGENCY SOUND a Swiss/Canadian sound clash team and the recently formed DUBSIDE COLLECTIVE out of cranbrook, Sasquatch is a Vancouver born DJ and Promoter who moved to the Kootenays to raise his family and embed himself in the music scene. A lover of reggae music, you can always expect a blend of new and old sounds from classic roots to modern dancehall with a healthy sprinkle of custom Dubplates for added flavour.
  • Cozmic Engagement
    • Cozmic Engagement’s beats can be best described at best as, “proverbial high and low frequency kicks of many genres. Much like a ninja master releasing his complex flurry of combinations during the “vibiest” of times. Others have referred to Cozmic Engagement’s beats as similar to “baby sloth kisses during an ocean morning sun rise” For FFF Cozmic Engagement is going to be bringing light and uplifting sounds to make your Sunday soft and magical.

  • Mantra Spirit Studio
    • Owner of Mantra Spirit Studio in Fernie, Trish, will be offering yoga and sound healing experiences. Mantra Spirit is a unique Reiki inspired Yoga studio. Empowering the Mind, Body and Spirit with Vital Life force Energy to promote new levels of growth, expansion and healing. Mantra Spirit Studio aims to achieve an empowered Spiritual Community. Where amazing relationships are made to help support each other on an everyday journey towards well being and inner peace.
  • Dragonfly Reiki
    • Kim Genovese’s of Dragonfly Reiki will be offering some introductory information on Reiki and a restorative Reiki yoga session. Kim has completed her Reiki Master training and is ready to share her knowledge, wisdom and practice with our community . Explore a peaceful, nourishing session with her at Fun Field Festival on wellness Sunday.

CAMPING INFO

  • Camping available for Friday & Saturday Night, $15 per person.
  • The venue is located in a wildlife corridor. Please be responsible with food storage & garbage disposal.
  • No campfires allowed, small propane stoves allowed for cooking.
  • Camping opens on Friday at 4pm
  • Outside alcohol is allowed in the camping area, but cannot be taken into the main festival area. No glass containers.
