Artist's statement:
This juxtaposition of vintage neon signs against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains really intrigues me and became the springboard for the show. Neon signs are synonymous with the Vancouver I grew up in - to buying a pair of red patent shoes, big buckets of popcorn during afternoon movies, and going to Woodwards, all those experiences were lit up in flashing neon signs. To place them in my adult playground of the mountains begs the question of how nature inspires human creation of entertainment and shelter.
It also acts as a reminder, to the viewer, to look up from their devices and look around. As Ferris Bueller once said. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
