Information:

  • How much does the shuttle cost?
Nothing, it's FREE! This service is available to both visitors and residents. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Are tickets required and can I pre-book a seat?
Tickets are NOT required and there are no pre-booking options, seating is first-come, first-served. Hop on and off.

  • We have a group, will we be able to fit?
The shuttle has a limited seating capacity and is first-come, first-served. It is unknown how many seats are available at any given time. The shuttle bus seats up to 18 passengers.
Groups 6 or more should arrange a private shuttle/taxi (at their own cost) with Tunnel49 (ph: 250-423-5008) to secure transportation.

  • Can I bring my bike, chariot or other big equipment on the shuttle?
Unfortunately not – the shuttle does not have bike racks and due to limited space on the bus only small collapsible umbrella style strollers can be accommodated.

  • Is the shuttle wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately not, however Tunnel49 does have wheelchair accessible vehicles in their taxi fleet.
  • Are dogs allowed on the shuttle?
Unfortunately not, with exceptions to service dogs.

Partners behind the #Ferniestoke Shuttle

The shuttle program is funded by tourism dollars and is a partnership between Tourism Fernie, Tunnel49 and the City of Fernie

The shuttle buses are the same ones used for the winter service, which are owned by the City of Fernie and were purchased in 2022 through tourism funding from the provincial Resort Municipality Initiative. This summer pilot project is operationally paid for by Tourism Fernie who has contracted Tunnel49 to operate the scheduled service this summer.
