Fernie Nordic Society

The Fernie Nordic Society maintains cross-country ski trails throughout the community, and offers events and lessons for both adults and kids.
The Fernie Nordic Society is a non-profit society that officially came into existence July 2006. Through the monumental efforts of many volunteers, we now have more than 20 kms of pristine groomed Nordic track in one of the worlds most spectacular venues. The Fernie Nordic Society now has more than 225 members of all ages and backgrounds. The primary goal of the Fernie Nordic Society is "to provide low cost winter fitness activity to it's membership through high quality groomed trails and programming"
As visitors arrive into Fernie for it's legendary powder skiing in the mountains, the Fernie Nordic Society is proud to offer an alternative activity to enhance their winter enjoyment.
Formal ski lessons are offered for both Bunnyrabbit (age 3-6) and Jackrabbit (age 6-12) skiers! Kids of all skill levels are encouraged to come out for a fun and challenging sport that promotes balance, strength and cardio. Our coaches are trained to ensure safe and very enjoyable lessons, complete with snow soccer, relays and of course just playing around in the snow, taking in the Fernie winter.
Lessons run every Saturday morning starting the first weekend in the New Year, and continue for about 10 weeks. Subject to change, lessons start at 10:00 am at the Fernie Golf and Country Club, and run for an hour. Snacks are provided each lesson by parent volunteers.
Adult group skis take place throughout the winter, and are scheduled when the snow starts to fall. Keep up to date on the events and activities happening with the Nordic Society via our website. See you on the snow!
