The Fernie Nature Centre is located within the Fernie Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Centre building off the main highway on the outskirts of town.

It features a variety of displays interpreting  the local mountains, wildlife, plants and trees and the Elk River. The Centre also has exhibits on area fossils, minerals and rocks, maps and a reference library of nature field guides.

Children can enjoy learning how to identify wildlife tracks, inspect specimens up close with the magnifiers, view nature videos, learn how to be Bear Aware, and add to The Nature Tree.

The Centre is open Monday - Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm in September until June and daily in July and August. For more information please call 250-423-6868.
