Fernie Golf and Country Club

Location: In Town

Closed for the 2011 season, see you in 2012!

Surrounded by rugged mountain peaks and wrapped in a lush forest, the Fernie Golf & Country Club is a big draw for people living in and passing through the Elk Valley.

Opened in 1918, this 18-hole championship course emphasizes playability; however, its luxurious greens, moulding silica sand bunkers and varied terrain are well-suited for beginners as well as the low handicapper. The course's immaculate fairways lie in the shadow of a beautiful and spacious clubhouse, where players can enjoy a delicious meal and fabulous views of the valley. Golfers can even catch a glimpse of the legendary Fernie ghostrider on Mount Hosmer at late afternoon or mid-evening.

Fernie's rural locale is a boon for animal lovers as moose, deer, elk, coyotes, foxes and even bears are frequently spotted ambling across the course. The Fernie Golf & Country Club has a full Pro-Shop staffed by C.P.G.A. Professionals who will look after your every need.

The Fernie Golf & Country Club has always been a haven for residents and golfers alike but with the growing concern for the environment, the club decided to join the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program (ACSP), which helps golf courses develop effective conservation and wildlife enhancement initiatives. Although it has not yet attained ACSP status, the Fernie Golf & Country Club expects to receive certification after undergoing a site audit in the next year.
